The most effective way to save energy in the household is by focusing on where consumption is highest: heating. Simply lowering the temperature in your home by one degree can reduce CO₂ emissions and save around 6 per cent on heating costs. But how can you achieve this without freezing during winter? Discover the various ways you can save costs while still enjoying comfortable temperatures throughout winter.
Don't worry, it's not always necessary to replace your entire heating system, as you can also significantly increase energy efficiency by simply replacing and installing individual components. Whether you're renovating a small or large flat or even a multi-storey family home, Gira offers the right solution for temperature control for every property. Creating time profiles for living areas that don't need to be heated all the time is a great way to save energy, as shown in the graphic below.
To ensure saving energy doesn't just look good on your bill, you can choose from 90 different frame designs for our room temperature controllers. You can easily match the selected room temperature controllers to your interior style.
The classic Gira room temperature controller offers simple, manual setting of the desired temperature per room. The frost protection monitoring permanently prevents the temperature of the underfloor heating from falling below 5 °C. The integrated temperature drop detection recognizes a sudden temperature drop (e.g. when a window is opened) and automatically adjusts the set temperature to the frost protection temperature. The slim rotary knob ensures that you don't accidentally adjust the temperature setting, and the timelessly modern design effortlessly complements any interior style with a choice of 90 different frame designs.

As with the previous solution, you can set the desired temperature per room on the respective classic room temperature controller. In addition, you can define a heating zone for each installed Gira System 3000 blind timer and timer BT. All rooms in the same heating zone then simultaneously reduce the temperature set on the room temperature controller by 4 °C during setback mode. For example, the 'sleeping area' heating zone, consisting of the bedroom, children's room, and guest room, could operate in this reduced mode during the day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., as nobody is in the rooms at this time. Conversely, the 'living area' heating zone, comprising the living room, kitchen and bathroom, operates in reduced mode at night.

With the Gira System 3000 room temperature controller BT, each room becomes an individual heating zone. You can choose completely individual settings and automations for each room. This includes specifying the desired temperature for specific times (hours and days of the week) in individual rooms. Thus, you will have the perfect temperature in any room at any time of the day. You can conveniently make these individual room settings using the Gira System 3000 App. Additional features include a configurable holiday mode, automatic heating optimization, and setting minimum and maximum temperature values for each room. Like all solutions mentioned here, this system utilises the existing wiring of your underfloor heating, so there's no need to run new cables.

The Gira RF operating top unit for KNX offers you even greater freedom. Thanks to wireless technology, you can control and configure the room temperature controllers from anywhere in your house using the Gira Smart Home app and the integrated temperature sensor always displays the current room temperature. By integrating other Gira KNX products into your smart home, you can configure various processes using the scene function in the app. For example, quick and easy switching between different operating modes of the room temperature controller (comfort, standby, night mode) is possible when a building is only partially used.
If you integrate the Gira KNX weather station and blind control into your system, additional savings potential is unlocked. For instance, in winter, your blinds can be raised during sun exposure to allow as much sunlight and its associated warmth into your rooms as possible. This actively supports the heating and saves on heating costs. In the summer months, the extended blinds can help prevent the building from heating up too much. This solution also utilises the existing wiring of your underfloor heating.
